September 2025 Newsletter
As global emergencies continue to put pressure on health systems worldwide, our focus remains on providing essential solutions to our customers where and when they need them most.
In this edition, we not only highlight our rapid response capabilities, but also our broader commitment to long-term health priorities, such as expanding access to antiretroviral drugs (ARVs), driving sustainable supply chains, and creating lasting impacts.
MAKING AN IMPACT – SUPPORTING BOTSWANA’S PUBLIC HEALTH RESPONSE
On 25 August, the Government of Botswana declared a public health emergency due to shortages of essential medicines. In response, we worked closely with the Ministry of Health and our logistics partner, Kuehne+Nagel, to prepare 82 pallets of vital pharmaceuticals and healthcare products for urgent shipment. At the IDA warehouse in Dubai, which is operated by Kuehne+Nagel, every pallet was carefully organised, inspected, and prepared for rapid dispatch.
Last week, President Duma Boko visited the warehouse to see the preparations firsthand. This project serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of coordinated expertise and collaboration in ensuring that life-saving products reach patients when they are needed most.
IDA Foundation publishes 2024 Sustainability Report
We are proud to share IDA Foundation’s 2024 Sustainability Report, highlighting our progress in embedding sustainability across our operations while continuing our mission to bridge the gap in access to medicines and medical supplies.
Key achievements this year include:
- Aligning our reporting with the upcoming Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and receiving a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis.
 - Reducing Scope 3 transport emissions through joint biofuel initiatives with our main logistics partners.
 - Achieving our first Great Place to Work® certification™, reflecting our strengthened DEI agenda and inclusive workplace culture.
 - Signing a long-term partnership with a local manufacturer to produce infusion bottles, supporting access to essential medicines, and strengthening healthcare systems.

ARV Product List Available
To help our customers select the right products to strengthen HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention programmes, we have created a comprehensive list of our ARV products (see attachment), and, considering the challenges posed by funding interruptions to treatment regimens, we are prioritising regular reviews of our ARV product range to help ensure continuity of care.
Our range of WHO-prequalified and WLA-approved ARVs includes:
- First-line, second-line and paediatric regimens, which are also available as fixed-dose combinations (FDCs) for simplified dosing.
 - Products across all major categories of the WHO Essential Medicines List (EML), including NRTIs, NNRTIs, integrase inhibitors, protease inhibitors and boosters.
 - Formulations for PMTCT, PEP and PrEP, ensuring comprehensive support for treatment and prevention.
 - Child-friendly options such as dispersible tablets, oral solutions, suspensions, and granules.

In addition, IDA provides rapid HIV diagnostic tests, as well as supportive medicines and supplies, which you can find in our Product Indicator.
